The Inquirer reports that VeriSign has won a hotly contested award:

THE UKS Internet Services Providers' Association held its annual shindig of an award ceremony in London last night, dishing out gongs to all and sundry.

Top Internet Villain was found to be Verisign, "for their presumption that they own the Internet and the domain name system hijacking scandal". Verisign managed to beat off fellow contenders the RIAA and the Home Office to scoop the prestigeous award.

ICANN wasn't nominated, which may cast a small cloud on VeriSign's otherwise richly earned success.
