Response to Business Constituency New TLD Plan

Topic: gTLDs hoping to enter the legacy root

Lawrence Solum writes "The Business Constituency of the GNSO's has a Position Paper entitled A Differentiated Expansion of the Names Space. Karl Manheim and Lawrence Solum have posted a response, The Inefficiencies of Differentiated Expansion at Additional commentary is provided on the Legal Theory Blog."

"The gist of the BC proposal is taxonomy--the idea that each gTLD should be limited to a specific topic; the BC also argues that there should be no new unsponsored gTLDs. Solum and Manheim argue that the BC approach is inherently inefficient, as compared to market-based approaches."
