Roger Collins writes "After purchasing the domain name and related assets, ProProject Inc changed the name and Internet address of its original domain name auction site to on December 27th."

[The site now says "Note to all members who joined on before this change: We did not acquire your account information, so you must join the new Afternic to participate on the exchange," which seems to mean that the pre-existing Afternic site is dead and gone. -mf]

ProProject will concentrate on partnering with registrars. The #1 customer complaint at registrars is that all the good domain names are taken. A partnership with addresses this complaint by allowing the registrars to show premium domains for sale, in addition to unregistered domains, when customers search for their desired domain names.

The “new” provides services for both buyers and sellers to find, negotiate, and execute safe domain name transactions. Unlike other domain exchange sites that are owned or affiliated with registrars, Afternic is registrar neutral under its new ownership.
