Rep. Dingell Hangs On

Topic: USA Goverment Relations

Rep. John Dingell, the irascible House member who is one of the thorns in ICANN's side in the House of Representatives has survived a close primary election and thus seems certain to be re-elected in fall. As the ranking Democratic member of the House Commerce Committee, he'd be the leading candidate to chair it if the Democrats took control of the House of Representatives. Republicans currently have a small majority, but no one is confident which party will have a majority in the next Congress.

House members have been firmly bi-partisan in their impatience with ICANN (see, e.g. here, here and here), so Dingell's continuing presence as a leading light on the relevant committee (and sub-committee) is significant, whichever party controls the House next year.

Bravo. That has to be one of the best troll posts I've seen in quite some time. Well done.
