Moshe got Domains.info... Hal Lubsen got Domain.in

Rather amazing and wonderful that the two Afilias CEO's ended up with perhaps the two most obvious names...

Heather Carle assured the public that names like these which were "Reserved" had been carefully "hand-checked" but when you consider that other names "Reserved" included "Fort Knox" for Hal Lubsen, and the following for Barry Fellman of Signature Domains, you have to ask: why on earth did these 'insiders' have the right to take these names BEFORE the general public for whom they were supposed to be providing a service?

All the following were "Registrar Reserved" in advance:

    Barry Fellman addiction.info
    Barry Fellman automobile.info
    Barry Fellman bankruptcy.info
    Barry Fellman compare.info
    Barry Fellman cult.info
    Barry Fellman foot.info
    Barry Fellman nudes.info
    Barry Fellman script.info
    Barry Fellman sick.info
    Barry Fellman stuff.info

Were all these names "Hand-Checked" by Heather Carle or one of her associates? Did the Registrar need these names (in preference to anyone else on this planet) in order to run his business?

Wasn't this simply abuse of process?

So Moshe gets Domains.info and Hal Lubsen gets Domain.info...

It's not the end of the world...

You almost have to laugh, it's so transparent...

But it illustrates rather nicely the way ICANN and Afilias and the Industry Insiders see the DNS as something which serves themselves first, and puts service of the public very much second place.
