I, as a business owner, delight in being able to have www.mycompany.com on my business cards, letterhead, sides of busses, billboards, skywriting, word-of-mouth, and a myraid other things.
Your plan denies me this, therefore I reject your plan. I believe I speak for most of the business owners who advertise their web addresses.
If you do this in addition to DNS, as you imply, nobody will use it, as there is no advantage to using it. Search engines and directories can index domain names just as easy as your identifiers. There is no money in identifiers, therefore registries won't support them.
"Build it and they will come" is no longer true, if it ever was. You have to build it better. I don't see "better" in your design.
