1. You are ICANN, you are on the Names Council.
2. ICANN likely does not want a lot of people
coming to the meetings now because the ICANN
Board might be embarrassed by their poor TLD
results. The ICANN Board can try to save face
by blaming it all on 9/11. With or without 9/11,
the ICANN TLDs have been a travesty.
3. Most people no longer would waste their time
and money traveling to ICANN meetings. ICANN will
have to pay them to come. That is what the new
approach is all about. ICANN will now be paying
people (as with the ALSC) to attend.
4. ICANN will also likely have to pay companies to
be ALLLOWED to access their TLDs. Why would a
company like New.Net allow ICANN to use their TLDs
and customer base for free ?
5. ICANN will likely become like PBS, yes, it has
some interesting shows, but most people watch
ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, etc. Only narrow-minded
people claim to only watch PBS. ICANN will continue
to attract narrow-minded people who only use a
few TLDs.
