The Internetnic whois is a than registry whois designed to tell you nothing more than the registrar for the domain and the name servers.
You then use that to go to the registrar whois which will give you full info such as Verisign registrar does.
Some companies such as www.whonami.com also look up multiple registrars and registries to seach over lots of domains.
