I know that US writers are significantly less worried about accuracy that the British media (and they aren't, that much) .. however this article seems to be very sloppy and making assumptions which don't seem to be borne out.
It's an attack on Verisign, the COM/NET Registry, Secure Cert and RFID people. It would be interesting if it were true!
But when you follow the link, it goes to a press statement by Verizon, the ISP and former Baby Bell (no, NOT the French Cheese in tiny red wax).
I'm not an apologist for Verisign or ICANN, both of which need careful scrutiny.
But hey, don't beat them for what they haven't yet done!!

Google is helping already in these matters if one have installed the Google Toolbar or Google Plugin for Firefox. If one make a typo Google comes with suggestion for other sites and normally Google will come up with the right one!
