Hey Michael,
I wasn't shouting, I was merely amazed that you were doing down the one thing that is likely to make the ALAC a powerful voice.
I have been telling people for years that they should get more involved in this and the RALOs are the perfect route to do so. I also spoke to a number of the people in the new RALOs this week and asked them straight out what I could do to help improve the situation. I'll do everything I can to help them get there.
The ICANN structure keeps changing - you know that better than I do - but structures only change from where they are. If there are tens of thousands of people all contributing the same argument, then that argument has to be listened to. The RALOs are the best way to do that - unless I have missed something in the ICANN structure.
Let's gee people up, not tell them that the best route of change is a dead-end.
I know the history of what has happened all too well but I'm not giving up, I see the RALOs as the step forward that is needed.
As for the "fool" thing - well, I was only responding to your use of the word fool. You said people were being played as fools; I said only a fool would not see the opportunity here.
If you have taken offence at that, I apologise, it wasn't intended, I was just trying to make a point.
I do have to say though that I won't take what has happened in the past as justification for not trying to improve the future. It's not easy, it's not perfect, but let's try to work on making it better.
Kieren
