It's obvious why ICANN is doing this right? Look at how much revenue any of those TLD's have generated since their inception. Pennies compared to .com.
What ICANN should really be doing is imposing stricter rules about what types of entities get to register .com domain names. Have a bylaw stating that only individuals or institutions with a valid commecial entity can actually have a .com.
How many times have we seen websites like xyzcompanysucks.com? It would be much better to have that categorized under .info right?
This is about trying to get the Internet community culturally shifted away from the concept of .COM being the only worthwhile TLD available.
