If you go back and read the GAC letter, it is pretty strange. It doesn't seem to say that other countries were THAT concerned.
"You may recall that during the session between the GAC and the Board in Luxembourg that some countries had expressed strong positions to the Board on this issue. In other GAC sessions, a number of other governments also expressed some concern with the potential introduction of this TLD." Yet a small mention in the Luxembourg GAC communique.
Is this really just the US? Is GAC a red-herring?
"sovereign governments are also free to write directly to ICANN about their specific concerns."
Sounds like this is an invitation to write now? Because they did not get off of their @ss@s before?
They must really be against it if ICANN has to beg them to write in!
