Who Cares Paul Vixie's Root Servers Are Ignored
ICANN was partly started as the world's most expensive baby-sitter for Paul Vixie and the rest of the Jon Postel groupies. They think that they are still running network infrastructure. They are deluded. The world has routed around them. They are too blind to see that.
Maybe they should run an experiment and turn off all of their equipment for a month and see if anyone notices.
With .ORG removed from the "consumer root" things can not progress more smoothly. No one even notices the demise of .ORG, although Vixie points out that the useless PIR.ORG is history, despite their entire staff on vacation in Argentina.

http://www.icann.org/compliance/
"ICANN's Compliance Program has been published to explain ICANN's approach to enforcement of compliance with its Registry Agreements and Registrar Accreditation Agreements ("the Agreements").
Contraventions of the Agreements can cause serious detriment to consumers and to the Internet community both directly, and indirectly, by damaging the competitive process that is crucial to a dynamic and healthy market." ===
ICANN prevents competition. ICANN is the damage. The Internet routes around damage.

How many times can ICANN be used to have Paul Vixie pay Randy Bush $50,000 to be a DNS Expert ?
What is that old saying about Fools and Their Money ?

Stories like this need to be given top priority and stay at the top of the page on this site. What ends up happening is other relatively minor stories get posted soon after and important ones like this one end up not being viewed by users. Also, like has already happened here with this story, ICANN/Verisign supporters sabotage the story by posting anonymously about side issues so the replies to the story 'die out'.
Because of the above, this site is not really being effective in its mission as it should be.
