Who cares? As GeorgeK, in domain name forums, brags,"My new baby - math.com", he gushes over his latest aquisition. Of course he's upset when Verisign (or any entity for that matter) stands to control most of the name-dropping (.com) action.
GeorgeK and his ilk contribute to the hoarding mentality, and only helped give Verisign the motivation to take control of the hoarding/speculating game. For GeorgeK to complain about someone else hoarding names or gorging themselves on auction profits is a huge joke.
This industry is full of hypocrites, right George?

In September 2004 both Network Solutions and Tucows announced that they were going to go into the auction business for expired domain names. See http://www.icann.org/announcements/announcement-21 sep04-1.htm
In effect expired domain names will remain with the registrar and auctioned off by them to the highest bidder. Tucows proposed giving 80% of the proceeds from the sale to the original registrant, NSI proposed 20%. I wondered how this would effect companies like Snapnames when I read this.
After the advisory posting on ICANN's site there hasn't been any more said about this...until now that is with Verisign's announcement. Be interesting to see where this leads...

It's really an unimportant issue, unless you trade in domain names for profit. For those who do, this issue is probably noteworthy.
