The new ICANN 'office' of the Ombudsman won't be in Toronto, Canada, it will be in Vancouver, Canada, and they won't be building any new offices. Crikey, if you can't read or decipher an ICANN pablum press release, do you expect to be taken seriously here? BTW, Vancouver is far closer to Marina del Rey than it is to Toronto, those Rand McNally atlases knowingly show the US larger than it should be and I think that goes back to Teddy Roosevelt's time, part of that manifest destiny shtick that ICANN has picked up and run with so far. As for Noss (and Rader) of Tucows, they're from Toronto's environs which to the rest of us Canucks equates to a bunch of scammers who pretend (and yearn) to be part of the US, AKA wannabees. Not like the olden days when I used TuCows as one of the first software download depositories online, now they're just more money grubbers, let's call them suppositories. And you're right Dan, these offtopic offtarget postings are mostly the work of one person, Jim Fleming, a nutbar, fruitcake, netkook extraordinaire. There are so many contenders for that title, you'd think there's a monetary award for the winner. Jim is still in the running. -g

Jim, take a chill pill, you've maladjusted your meds again (still?). I know it's hard for you to follow a hyperlink (and impossible for you to create one) but I posted here a long (internet) time ago this [theregister.co.uk] interview with new ICANN Ombudsman Frank Fowlie which includes: Frank will be working purely by himself in his home town of Ottawa, although he is soon moving to the West coast of Canada to be in the same timezone as ICANN's headquarters in Marina del Ray [SIC] Ottawa and Hull are also much further away from Vancouver than Vancouver is from Marina del Rey (a few hours travel by car to MdR, a few days to Ottawa/Hull/Toronto). Canada is the sleeping (some say drooling) giant on your doorstep and we have about 70% of the world's drinkable water (the US is rapidly approaching 0%, first you take Iraq halfway across the globe for oil, then you take a stroll across an imaginary line to Canada for water, ya like that will be any more successful). I'm presently listening to CBC1 (the main FM radio station of the government funded Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and they've said the word fuck twice in the last five minutes. If I was gay (which I'm not) I could get married. If I smoked marijuana (which I don't) I could go and get high on the front lawn of the police station with impunity. How do you like us so far?I don't know what you have against bilingualism other than that some Americans speak Spanish without official sanction. Switzerland is trilingual and when is the last time they invaded anyone (even under the terms of international law)? Oh, I forgot, according to you ICANN is controlled by the gnomes of Geneva. BTW, Canada does make cars. Most of the major brands have factories here. With apologies to Michael Moore, most US car manufacturers are here, in Mexico, in China, in.... I was a mechanic many years ago and still fix about as many friends' and relatives' autos as I do their computers. The trick is that cars are classified as domestic if some or all of the parts come from elsewhere and are put together in the good ol' USA. An automobile (like the DNS) is made up of parts [www.apma.ca], and no-one, not even you armed to the teeth Americans, can own all the parts. It's called globalization, look into it. Oh, and please (re-)adjust your meds. -g
