Actually, it was just another master-stroke in the long history of Verisign-(NSI)-fabricated distractions. Verisign must have a huge staff that sits around all day dreaming up the next distraction. They feed the distraction to the public via **their** ICANN stooges and everyone runs off to chase their tails, while Verisign laughs all the way to the bank.
While the distractions are keeping people from making any progress, Verisign is of course working behind the scenes, in private, with other companies to plan and execute their next moves. The distractions help to draw people out. They are a form of trolling. ICANN is an essential **tool** used by Verisign to stir the waters. As long as the ICANN insiders are paid well and have to do largely nothing all day, except stay home and surf the net, they play along with the game. Verisign pays the bulk of all the bills.
Competition for Verisign is of course kept away. People are too busy dealing with the distractions.
It is all a huge waste of time and human resources.
