Attacking Vint is not the goal. I have a great deal of respect for his accomplishments.
He is certainly someone who does deserve respect for their pioneering work in the internet's infancy.
One might wonder why someone of his stature and accomplishments would lend their credibility to something like ICANN, unless there was pragmatic honesty at the core of their efforts.
If ICANN is to ever become viable, there needs to be less, [ahem] 'candy', fed to the massses who are being 'represented in a bottom up consensus manner', if that is indeed what is happening.
It is not clear to me that this is the case.
I don't suspect I am alone in this perception.
