You're totally bonkers. The ACLU [aclu.org], The Christian Coalition [christiancoalition.org], Americans United for Separation of Church and State [au.org], The Anglican Church [anglican.org], the American Cancer Society [cancer.org], Mensa [mensa.org], The Libertarian Party [lp.org], David Duke [davidduke.org], Socialists on the Internet [socialist.org], The Electronic Frontier Foundation [eff.org], and Slashdot [slashdot.org] are all part of a big, unified, conspiracy to narrow the diversity of society and the Internet??????
And, last I checked, an awful lot of the high-bandwidth download sites were in .com domains, except when they're illegal pirate sites, which sometimes operate out of raw IP addresses so they don't depend on the DNS at all. Arbitrarily cutting off some TLDs from Internet access wouldn't do much to cut bandwidth usage, but it would sure frustrate people who found their favorite sites inaccessible.
