An interesting aspect of US tax law is that employee travel from home to office is not deductable while travel from office to office is.
This fact can, and has, driven the creation of remote offices, or offices placed near the homes of certain executives so that otherwise non-deductable travel expenses can become deductable expenses with the net effect of increasing the employee's after-tax income.
Executives who are contractors and who operate through intermediary corporations don't need to do this.
