Yeah, and don't forget IOD was selling .WEB registrations, hand-over-fist. These "registrations" are useless, and you can't blame Afilias or Ken Stubbs for that.
Plain and simple, IOD failed to do what was necessary for successful inclusion in the root. Even deadbeats were successful, leading me to believe ICANN just didn't like IOD. I know Mike Roberts didn't like IOD. I know Hans Kraaijenbrink didn't like IOD. I know Esther Dyson didn't like IOD. All three of these assholes were ready to give a TLD to Name-Space! Yes folks, even the folly that was Name-Space (500+ TLDs!) could have been successful, if the dodo speaking for Name-Space November 16, 2000 bothered to remember all of the products his company was selling ... the turkey, he really blew it.
Well folks, maybe someday IOD will get .WEB into the root, but most of us will probably be too old to give a crap.
