Please be reminded that the few people who think as deeply into DNS don't remotely represent the day-to-day realities of Internet usage and user comfort zones.
The DNS as we know it will be very much around in the coming years. Question remains, how much will the profiteering side of human nature rear its ugly head and lead to the introduction of even more gTLDs to help sustain the livelihoods of the registrar industry?
