I can't help it that nearly all news about VeriSign is negative! I'd be the first one to applaud VeriSign (and ICANN) if they did things people actually wanted, e.g. pre-emptively stopped SiteFinder before it launched, abandoned WLS, etc. If you have a source of positive news about them, feel free to post it....but, I'm afraid we'll only hear the sound of crickets when folks are challenged to produce positive news....
Perhaps there should be a "Shadow ICANN" (just like the "Shadow Fed" in the financial world). If that Shadow ICANN simply followed GNSO bottom-up consensus (which opposed WLS, and opposed SiteFinder if one looked at the discussion of the various constituencies), that'd trump most of the decisions coming from the Board. Oh, I forgot, ICANN's core mission involves bottom-up consensus development (see Vint Cerf's testimony [icann.org] (point 3)), so the Board should already be doing this....
