If New.net was so friggin' wonderful, they wouldn't need ICANN to award them anything.
Screw New.net, the way they screwed their customers.

I'm curious. Just how did New.Net screw their customers. I just successfully surfed to the asta.travel website by adding .new.net. I choose to not use their plug-in, so I use the extension instead. The website and domain both work just fine.
I'm not a new.net fan by any means, but I don't see how they screwed customers if their domains resolve, they have TLD servers and a working registry.

They didn't screw customers, customers didn't have patience. Patience is the virtue. If you check their whois, you'll notice many customers with patience.
If you mean "speculators" by saying customers, most of them don't have patience. They all want everything being served to them in one package overnight. That way, they can sell their domains the other day.
New.net managed to survive till today with all the odds against them. They could have done the same thing like .Web by not doing anything but just waiting for being awarded. Everyone can do that. New.net picked the hardest and the most costly route. They're true innovators and innovation should be awarded.
Don't be a follower. :)

I do making money with my New.net domain names. You may have a look at http://www.sex.shop or http://www.health.shop or at one of my other sites. nic.PRO will be back online soon with FREE sub-domains. Dowload the FREE plug-in at www.name-space.com/software
