VeriSign plays the end-user card, claiming that a poll of such worthies is largely in favour of SiteFinder. And did they also poll end-users regarding the WLS which will misdirect them into never-never land when domains change hands? Of course not. Richer still is that they won't release the methodology of the poll as they cite it as proprietary (such scientific exactitude in the medical arena would have us still evaluating whether heroin should be the painkiller of choice). But I've got to hand it to Steve Crocker, who repeatedly seems much more clued than his infamous (and apparently somewhat stupider) brother, as he states [yahoo.com]: The Internet was really built not by a set of companies that built closed, proprietary systems but by a much more open system... Bravo! Now if he can only get the rest of the Board (and presumably himself) to live by such a simple tenet, there may be hope for us yet. -g

Oh, silly me. The polling methodology can apparently be found here [theregister.co.uk]. I guess that would also be a vote for giving Zuccarini a get out of jail free card. -g

Would you have expected VGRS to do a scientific poll? Please. To do so would expose the travesty of the move. Instead they predictably state that the mistakes users make, which forces them onto a page they did not want or query, translates into "choice" to use that page. Give me a break. But then it's not surprising, is it?
What's worse is that it will take a lawsuit and years, most likely, to force a change.
I think what would make VGRS learn more quickly would be for domain name holders to choose another TLD, but which one? .BIZ is now a joke.
Time for the alt.roots I think. There are about ten thousand TLDs to choose from there, many of which are quite applicable to the needs of those now in .com. How about .com2? :) It's there.
