Paint me very surprised. I honestly thought they'd play hardball.
Their release, however, smacks of hypocracy. They're gung-ho about innovation, yet they've stonewalled and helped delay new TLDs, and are foreclosing on the dropping domain market (and its serious innovative offerings) with WLS. To just name two.

I'm not all that surprised. I knew they wouldn't voluntarily, but they were really left with no choice once ICANN made the ultimatum. I figured they'd exploit as much revenue as they can and wait until tomorrow by 5:59 PM PDT, but nonetheless, I knew they would.
You're quite right about the hypocrisy of Mr. Lewis' statement.
I guess this means that I won the friendly bet. ;)
