I'm going to stick my neck out, and predict that VeriSign will agree to ICANN's ultimatum pending further study and review. However, I fully expect them to wait until the last minute tomorrow to reap the rewards. If they don't comply with ICANN's demand, they are almost certainly guaranteed to lose the redelegation of .net in 2004 and are putting their management of .com in serious jeopardy. VeriSign's registry division is their "bread and butter," so to speak. $6 from every registration is a lot of money. :)
