I can, and do, turn of the Internet Exploder "search" function - there's a nice little checkbox labeled "Do not search from the address bar" under Tools | Internet_Options | Advanced. Individual users can set this, and companies that chose to do so can set it as on a bulk basis for their users.
There is no way to turn off Sitefinder.

this topic was about "breach of trademark" and "trademark infringement" in conjunction with the use of domain names, particularly those that "do-not-exist". The query result to the user is identical while understanding that the path from point A to point B functions entirely differently. I will admit that if MSN search did not have something like 80%+ market share, the effect to trademark owners would not be as material...sort of like how .com has 80%+ market share except where the latter is being well protected.
