Verisign, by making use of names, which leaves residual effects of lingering incorrect resource records in DNS resolvers all over the net, as well as captured information in web caches and search engines, is engaged in a practice that amounts to misrepresenting that the names that it is selling are untained items.
Talk about reaching! This technical argument is weak, and therefore the basis for your political statement falls flat.
Either you have a good argument or you don't. If this is the type of esoteric argument you have to make to prove VeriSign wrong, then truly what they are doing isn't that big of a deal.

You might want to take a look at how DNS works.
Every record has a TTL - time to live. This value, in conjunction with other times in the SOA record, determine how long a resolver can (and should) "remember" a result previously obtained.
Without TTLs, *every* query would start from a root and work its way down. It is the fact of such caching that allows DNS to scale.
Because of these TTLs, results returned by Sitefinder do linger around on the net and can interfere with the new user's full use of a name.
You may not mind buying goods that are contaminated by use by the seller, I don't. And unless the buyer is informed, it is a situation that can be considered as misrepresentation by the seller.
If you think the argument is weak, then you ought to at least support a reduction in the registion fees for the period of contamination - which I estimate as about 1% to 2% of the typical registration period.
