"dotMD.md" is not the bankrupt company dotMD, LLC
    by Anonymous on Wednesday September 03 2003, @10:04AM (#12152)
A clarification regarding "dotMD." The bankrupt company "dotMD, LLC", which is the company that sold .md domain name registrations in the United States, is not affiliated with our company, Internet.MD, Inc., which owns the federally registered trademark "DOTMD" and the domain names "dotmd.md" and "dotmd.com". Our company had a marketing contract with Domain Name Trust, Inc., the predecessor of dotMD, LLC, that we entered in Oct. 1998 to register .md domain names in California and New York. Domain Name Trust, Inc. breached that contract, and we ended up getting a $2.2 million judgment against dotMD, LLC. When we attempted to collect our judgment, dotMD, LLC declared bankruptcy. During the bankruptcy proceedings we worked with the bankruptcy trustee to help rejuvenate the .md registration business and improve relations with Moldova, but the trustee did not really understand the business nor the political situation in Moldova and was unable to manage the business properly. In any case, I want to make it clear that our company wants .md to be run by a responsible, representative group in Moldova, and wants to make sure that ICANN does a thourough investigation of the parties involved. Also, with respect to the Moldova chapter of ISOC, it is not a real functioning chapter with real members. It is the voice piece of Valerian Levinski, a former Moldova government employee who received tens of thousands of dollars in "consulting" fees from Domain Name Trust, Inc. under the contract Domain Name Trust, Inc. signed with Pavel Chirev, the director of MoldData, in May 1998 (we obtained documents showing these payments as part of the discovery process in our lawsuit against Domain Name Trust. If anyone is interested in documents relating to Domain Name Trust, MoldData and its predecessor Republican Centre for Informatics, dotMD, LLC, and corruption in Moldova, feel free to contact me.
