When did the government ever claim to be open and transparent? Seriously.
It seems that the author of the article has too much time on his hands and both of you are probably conspiracy theorists who have a gratuitous distrust of anything governmental.
Such sorts are usually the very same people who cry for bigger government -- one that will logically invade more and more of people's lives and control every aspect of their existence.
Remember that a government that presumes to GRANT rights to the people (rather than one that sees itself as a protector of *GOD*-given rights) can easily revoke those rights.
But I digress. Or do I?

'digress' is too big a word. your response is so awash in soporific ideological twaddle in lieu of specifics that you could cut-and-paste it into just about any discussion of 'the gummint' and no one would be any the wiser.
