Auerbach Weighs in for gTLD Lotteries

Any new TLD should only go to a registry OBLIGATED, by contract and enforcement, to vigorously advertise and market said TLD, regardless of initial sales numbers. Afilias and Neulevel are disregarding their promises to advertise, screwing every customer who bought names in those extensions, figuring Afilias and Neulevel would at least do what they promised. But ICANN doesn't give a flying fuck if these registries follow through with their promises, at the expense of the consumers who bought into those extensions figuring the registries would at very least adhere to their registry agreements. Someone ought to remind that prick Abril i Abril just what happened after he turned chicken and abstained from all those hard decisions back in November 2000. Did we spell his name correctly here? We're sure he'll watch for that ...
