I also wondered who Tony Staley was, only knowing the one who is the former President of the Liberal Party of Australia. It transpires he is the appointee to the Non Com but he is involved with a ccTLD - in fact he is Chairman of the Board of auDA which manages .au TLD.
The CEO of auDA informed me that he is "also the Chair of Australia's Telecommunications Ombudsman
Council, Chair of the Australian National Museum, and holds various other appointments.
He was the Communications Minister in the Federal Government in Australia in the 1970s and is a former President of The Liberal Party in
Australia."

Putting Kraaijenbrink onto the chair of ICANN's governance committee is like putting Godzilla in charge of governing Tokyo.
It is hard to imagine a worse choice. OK, Stuart Lynn might have been worse, maybe.
Kraaijenbrink created many of ICANN's problems, My guess is that he will lead the committee to write a report that proclaims ICANN to be run with the wisdom of Solomon and staffed by angels.

Oh well, I tried "tony staley auda" and got 111 hits, of which the first confirms that Tony Staley has been co-opted into the Board of auDA in September 2000 to be then elected Chairman, and the second is this comment [auda.org.au].
