Heh... I don't think that they teach the history of Catalunya in American schools, do they?
[Note for Ted: using "y" instead of "i" in a Catalan family name is more or less like if you called Mexican people that live in California using the English translation of their family name rather than the real one... though of course you didn't mean it. Catalans were there before being adjoint to Spain and while my Spanish relatives from Madrid don't really like it, they're very jealous of their own identity. In fact, if you go to Barcelona you often find "Castellano" (that's Spanish) listed under "foreign languages".]
