I really don't see them as similar. In the one case, the point was free speech/critical speech. In the other, the tm was used as identical and for the purpose of directing people to sites where they could purchase the tm'd trucks. That could, in fact, be confusing.
However, you are correct, IMO, that a domain that explains where to purchase might be a stronger case. Even that, however, could be confusing. It's a really fine line here. If the site content were strictly a "fan" type of site and used a domain such as the ones you suggested, I think it would be stronger. Meanwhile, the IP interests have the power, but I was glad to see the free speech upheld.
