Well, if the IWW was before your time (though they're still around), some might remember the Merry Pranksters (though if you do, as Robin Williams says, you weren't there). Now we have digital merry pranksters. The anti-globalization, anti-WTO, etc. folks haven't paid too much attention to namespace politics yet but that's because, for all its faults, ICANN hasn't yet p*ssed them off. There's a lot of mostly young (and often technologically literate) folks out there willing to put their bodies on the line in the Seattle anti-WTO protests and elsewhere. The extent to which ICANN mishandles the @large question could become an interesting historical footnote to some widespread hijinks and hacks. And no, I'm not advocating that, just making an observation that if you polarize yourself it is likely that an opposite pole will show up for balance. Those of us in the middle who just want the bits to run on time stand to lose more than we'll gain. Plus ca change... -g
