    New gTLDs The .root Saga Continues

    ajdlinux writes "Remember .root? The gTLD mysteriously created by Verisign? Well it seems to have disappeared, as noted by one editor on Wikipedia. So I did some research on it and according to the InterNIC zone file, vrsn-end-of-zone-marker-dummy-record.root has been replaced by just vrsn-end-of-zone-marker-dummy-record, yes, without the TLD. This is the only time I have encountered a domain name in the actual global DNS system without a TLD. What approval did this get?"
