(a subsidiary of the financially-troubled TheGlobe.com/Voiceglo, operating in conjunction with an insolvent sham entity called the "Travel Partnership Corp." (TTPC) and apparently acting as a front for the airline cartel IATA under a still-secret 22 October 2002 memorandum of understanding between IATA and Tralliance), says today that Tralliance is preparing actively for pre-authentication of applicants for ".travel" domain names to commence 1 July 2005, and for a limited launch of ".travel" registrations 1 September 2005, "as prescribed by ICANN".

There is much more that is troubling about the whole process there [hasbrouck.org]. Calling this ICANN/Tralliance behaviour outrageous doesn't seem over the top.

Edward Hasbrouck has followed the .travel saga all along. I am proud to have been the one to first introduce him to ICANNWatch readers a few years ago. If we could only have one individual following each ICANN issue with half the perception and dedication, ICANN/US DOC would be much more of a scandal. -g

I have to wonder how new.net will handle this one. :) They've said in the past that they are friendly with ICANN. Let's just see how friendly they are now. Will they simply dump their registrants in favor of the ICANN .travel? Will they pursue legal action? What will they do about the collision in the DNS namespace? Will their plug-in differentiate and allow choice?

All I can say is "stay tuned." It could be interesting. ICANN stated they would choose any TLD they pleased and would not recognize existing TLD's in any other root. They hurt a lot of people with the .biz fiasco and will now do the same with .xxx and .travel. What's next I wonder.

As for .xxx, well I wouldn't expect Jason H. to just lie down and take it either. That's another one that will be interesting to watch.

OK, spewmeister, I'll admit you (rarely) get it right, like that it's it all an ISOC conspiracy to drain our precious bodily fluids. So what?

I've said already that I'm one of the few to get some of your obvious references, let alone some of the more obscure ones. Why keep hammering at it? If almost no-one gets it now, do you really expect some future digital archeologist to grab a few of your bits and fit them together correctly to say Eureka, here Anon knew it all along, and they weren't listening, no wonder they fell into decline so that you, long in your grave, can assume an attitude of smugness? Good on you. You win. So go away. I'm willing to concede that this wiser than all of thou attitude isn't just a quirk of the maggots eating you from within. CSI ICANN, film at 11.

It's fairly easy to get over this spectacle, I just change my netkook nutbar mod settings to plus one and you disappear, which I'm about to do now, there's nothing to see here, move along.

Assuming I'm not just committing the fox paw of addressing an annoybot who can't decipher, CUL8R. -g
