Just a thought: If VeriSign were to persuade a court that ICANN lacks the authority to block WLS, wouldn't that serve as a total defense to much or all of the Registrars' lawsuit? They'd have to go sue VeriSign on the anti-trust claim, which could be tougher sledding...

I think it's not quite as simple the other way around. Were the Registrars to prevail on their claim that WLS would be illegal, that would still leave open questions as to the meaning of disputed clauses of the ICANN-VeriSign agreement.
