
No U.N. "Showdown" This Week

Just as Michael predicted a while back, delegates to the "World Summit on the Information Society" have tabled plans to actually do anything about a possible UN move on the DNS at this week's summit.

Instead, they'll direct Kofi Annan, UN Secretary-General, to commission a study of the issue, to be acted on (or not) in 2005.
I don't know about y'all, but surely a high-profile move to bring the DNS under UN control would make me long for ICANN's return.
