Network Solutions, the largest domain name registrar, has taken a visible stance in support of privacy by opening a new website: www.internetprivacyadvocate.org

On the site, NetSol openly advocates elimination of the requirement of registrars to sell others bulk access to their registrants' Whois data. In general, the site does a good job of informing domain name registrants of the privacy issues surrounding the Whois database, but of course links the political message to promotion of special privacy-enhancing features offered by NetSol, as well as NetSol's registration services in general.

One of the more interesting features of the site is a poll that allows web site visitors to record their opinion about privacy-related Whois proposals. The poll does not ask for email addresses, so presumably those who participate will not be spammed.
