 Domain Name Industry Conference in Seattle, May 25

Name Intelligence, (known for the popular whois.sc website) is putting on a domain industry conference this May in Seattle.
The 2005 Domain Roundtable event will be from Wednesday, May 25th through Friday, May 27th, 2005.

We have created a forum for the domain name industry to meet up, with presentations and networking opportunities. The growing list of industry participants speaking, and sponsoring the event are name recognized in the domain name industry, and we believe this will a worthwhile conference for anyone who has exposure to this great industry.
We have compiled a sample of the attendee demographic, and the agenda is filled with topics, panels, and keynotes of interest to any company of any size.
We will be donating the net proceeds to Tsunami Relief through AmeriCares.org. Your attendance, and participation at any level, will help ensure a healthy donation to a great humanitarian effort.
The agenda has been filling up with familiar names from the various areas in the domain name industry. The schedule is constantly being updated, so check back frequently.
We'd like to hear from our fellow grateful ICANNWatch audience members who have something valuable to share at the conference. We have set aside some Speaker and Panelist opportunies, and want to hear from you. If you are interested in participating on a panel, or feel that you have a compelling topic that would be of interest to speak on, we'd love to have our committee review your submissions and qualifications on those topics.

It is rather pretentious to call today's collection of registries and registrars, and any third tier providers, an "industry".
Rather, because it is essentially a business sector that is closed to those who do not wish to submit their product offerings, prices, and customer lists to ICANN and obtain ICANN's blessing, it is far more accurate to call the whole thing, ICANN and the businesses, a combination in restraint of trade.
This system because it has a built in registry price floor and because it denies entry to many who wish to participate in this marketplace is costing consumers hundreds of millions of dollars per year in excessive fees and an additional amount in hidden costs (due to things like the UDRP kangaroo court system and an ethical structure that makes used car salesman look squeeky clean by comparision.)

This should be on the agenda in Seattle. Also, Afilias has still not sorted out the many locked .info domains from the Sunrise fiasco - almost 4 years later and they still have not unlocked all of the legitimate trademarked ones (I'm suprised the owners have not got together and launched a class action lawsuit already) and the fake ones are still in limbo and should be released for the public.
Due to this gross incompetence, .info should be taken away from Afilias and given to some other company/organization before the contract with ICANN expires next year (there is provision in the contract ICANN signed with Afilias to do this). To think Afilas even has the nerve to bid for.net!
I won't be in Seattle for the conference but this should be a major rallying point to effect change and reform at ICANN.
