Is 30 days long enough for us to start our own Internet, so we can tell Verisign to go stuff theirs? Maybe we can even start our own ICANN while we're at it -- after all, it shouldn't be hard to improve on the original. Verisign, ICANN, New.Net, etc., can go off and play in their little fantasy world, and the rest of us will have an Internet that actually works.
(Oh yes, I almost forgot -- spammers, you're welcome to stay in Verisign's legacy net; they're likely to be more gullible anyway.)

VeriSign plays the end-user card, claiming that a poll of such worthies is largely in favour of SiteFinder. And did they also poll end-users regarding the WLS which will misdirect them into never-never land when domains change hands? Of course not. Richer still is that they won't release the methodology of the poll as they cite it as proprietary (such scientific exactitude in the medical arena would have us still evaluating whether heroin should be the painkiller of choice). But I've got to hand it to Steve Crocker, who repeatedly seems much more clued than his infamous (and apparently somewhat stupider) brother, as he states [yahoo.com]: The Internet was really built not by a set of companies that built closed, proprietary systems but by a much more open system... Bravo! Now if he can only get the rest of the Board (and presumably himself) to live by such a simple tenet, there may be hope for us yet. -g
