    Registrars CircleID on Wait Listing Service Controversy

    AF writes "In light of the recent events regarding ICANN’s approval of the Wait-Listing Service (WLS), CircleID is requesting all stakeholders (all individuals or organization that own domain names or sell related services) to submit their comments ‘for’ or ‘against’ WLS. Currently comments have been submitted by: President of Tucows, Register.com's Director of Policy Responds, President of BuyDomains.com, President of Name Intelligence, President of easyDNS, President of Afternic, VP of SnapNames, and the public.     "Just How Big is WLS?
    About 25,000 domain names are deleted each day. Roughly 80 to 100 million inquiries are made per day in order to snatch deleted .com/.net domains.  Around 40% of registered domain names are deleted each year. Total number of .com/.net domains registered is approximately 26,500,000. A 5-year WLS contract is estimated to generate $100 to $150 million for the service provider (does not include registry revenues). WLS is scheduled to launch on Oct. 11, 2003
