Don't forget that the nominating committee has 12 other voting members - most of whom are appointed by business interests. Those other twelve are more than enough to guarantee that even if the ALAC appointees act with unaniminity they will lose on every single vote within the committee.
It is extremely important that the nominating committee adopts internal procedures, such as having cumulative voting in conjunction with the selection of multiple appointees, so that the ALAC committee members can have at least the possibility of having some of their choices put onto the board.
