Subject: [RegistrarsList] Restore Fee Details
To All Registrars,
This is to advise you that the Restore Fee price has been finalized for the
VGRS Redemption Grace Period service, summarized below:
Fees for the redemption grace period service will be charged upon successful
restoration of domain name registrations. To provide for recovery of
one-time development costs while allowing a reduced price in the longer
term, the fee will initially be $85, but will later be reduced to $40.
Specifically, through the end of the second calendar month after the
calendar month in which the cumulative total of registered domain names
restored pursuant to the Redemption Grace Period policy reaches 2000, the
price per successful restore command will be $85; thereafter the fee will be
$40.00.
For example:
If the cumulative total of names restored for .com and .net reaches the 2000
level in October 2003, the unit price will be $85 through December 2003 and
will change to $40 on January 1, 2004.

Manager, Customer Service

And will this outrageous fee be waived if the domain's expiration occurred because of the failure of a registrar or NSI to notify or cooperate with the regsistrant or admin? When it takes months for NSI and some registrars to comply with reasonable requests for changes in the case of email address problems or other such glitches, when they will not assist via land line, take months to respond to snail mail, etc, should a registrant have to pay a ransom to keep his domain?
Even $40 is outrageous for something that takes a simple input to a database - maybe 10 seconds?
Pity those who have problems once WLS is in effect.
