    Membership Issues Recording from Outreach meeting online
    posted by michael on Friday August 17 2001, @02:05AM

    mpawlo writes "Finally, the recording from the August 13, 2001 ALSC Outreach meeting is online, according to information submitted by Denise Michel. I still have not been able to listen to the recording ("This site is currently down for maintenance. Please call the reservations center at 1-800-475-5000 for your conferencing needs.") but I would love to hear from someone who has actually managed to do it."

    STREAMING AUDIO REPLAY ACCESS INFORMATION (submitted by Denise Michel to the ALSC forum):

    1. Establish your Internet connection

    2. Launch (start) your Internet browser (make sure your security level is set to "medium" or lower).

    3. Go to http://www.e-meetings.wcom.com

    4. Click on "Attend a Webcast" (in the column on the right).

    5. From the "Audio Streaming/Replay" menu, select "Leader/Participant Join".

    6. Enter the "Conference ID" 8283832; enter the "Conference Passcode" ICANN;

    enter "participant information" (your name and email address**), and click on "Proceed".

    7. Click on "Attend" to play recording.

    * See: http://www.e-meetings.wcom.com/webcast/requirements.php3

    ** This information will be reviewed by the ALSC to help determine the utility of audio streaming for future meetings, and will then be destroyed.

    What Actually Happened
    by Anonymous on Friday August 17 2001, @05:56AM (#1902)
    We received multiple independent submissions of items regarding this event, as is sometimes the case. The way our system works, there is no one other than the editors who can read items in the unpublished queue, which is why when multiple submissions happen they must be independent unless the submitters are somehow tipped off by an editor.

    We don't publish everything we are sent, and exercise our editorial judgment as to which contributions to use on the 'front page', especially when there is more than one on the same topic. We don't exercise similar control over the comments which appear without our intermediation.

    Note also the ICANNWatch FAQ: Why didn't you post my brilliant submission?.
